You gotta click the i at the top right, same as most other widgets. Where it has you enter it.

For the emails, i think you should make it so you get emailed if:
1. A photo of yours gets a new comment. 2. You get an @reply on a photo which isn't yours but which you have commented on. 3. Somebody follows you.
I know it's expensive if you don't already have a developer thing but once you start making money off the site you could perhaps make an app for the iPhone to let you upload dailybooth pictures. That app would also work as a nice little promotion for the site.
